The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon that occurs in the summer months in places north of the Arctic Circle when the sun remains visible at the local midnight. The number of days per year with potential midnight sun increases the closer towards the pole you are. Here in Alta we have the opportunity to see the midnights sun aprox. 70 days each year.
On this tour we will walk from the city center towards one of Alta`s best viewponts. A easy walk of 2,5km. We start the trip and the story telling from the impressive Northern Light cathedral. The guide will tell you about the history of Alta from the earliest settlements, the early northern lights research in the area, nature and culture, the WWII, and the local history up until today. At the viewponit the guide will serve you some hot drinks and biscuits while enjoying the view of the midnight sun.
